So, who am I and why write this ?
Well, I’m a small animal vet working in a Veterinary Hospital in Macclesfield, Cheshire.
I qualified from Glasgow Vet School in 1995 and have worked in Staffordshire in mixed practice doing cows, horses , sheep , cats & dogs, etc before concentrating my attentions on just small animals.
I spent a coupe of years in Newcastle upon Tyne working for an animal charity - PDSA which provided an incredible amount of experience.
We - that is myself and my wife Nicola moved to the South East, Ware in Hertfordshire. Where ? Ware. Where in Hertfordshire ? Ware - near Hertford - yep gone through all those jokes !!
I worked in Essex and then North London, in private practice, the PDSA and then back to private practice.
In 2004, we decided to escape from the overcrowded South East and headed to North Staffordshire where we are just on the border of the Peak District.
In 2005, I gained the Royal College Certificate in Small Animal Surgery, adding a few more letters after my name for the mere sacrifice of a year or two doing little more than work & studying. I found myself following this route into surgery very much by accident but now relish taking on anything tricky and challenging.
In 2008. I became a partner at Wright and Morten so will hopefully be able to contribute even more to the practice and not experience too many additional headaches !
This site will hopefully reveal a little of what it’s like to do my job and what it means to me.
Obviously Tetley will contribute but isn’t great on the keyboard , however he does love a good chew on any available wires, plugs, and adaptors !
As the photos above suggest, away from work, I like to be active and enjoy walking, climbing, mountain biking , road cycling and just about any sport. When I can get away in time on a Friday night, I love to watch Sale Sharks and this year I have committed to a season ticket again and am please to see that they are far better than last year !
